Elegy

Its paw goes cold as I hold it closely.
Memories of my 13 year old friend begin to swarm into my mind.
Don't leave me i'll never love again

I was 3 years old and you were 3 too.
A golden german shepard who  became like my sister. When I was in Kindergarten, you  used to sneak out
the house and wait outside for me till school ended. I would play with you all day we were partners in crime.

As time grew so did you  I used to go to school and brag about my dog. All the kids were fascinated by my beast at home, from a naughty little puppy you grew full size.

Elementary school came I was in 4th and you were getting older. Everyday I used to come and play with you and wrestle you all the time.

I remember every time we ordered pizza or left food out on the counter we would soon realize you were downstairs and have to put it back, to make sure you didn't eat it.

I then began to grow older much older and found new interests in life, I didnt throw the ball or pet you everyday.

You would bring me the ball
Id ignore you
Id have a bad day at school and youd innocently show me affection
Id still ignore you
Id neglect you

Then one day you died, you left me.
I realized my wrong doings I realized what I was missing.

We ordered pizza last night,
I left the 4 slices on the counter
I went upstairs and ran back down, but sadly
there were still 4 pieces left
